About me

What gets me out of bed in the morning ...

... ready and raring to go, is my mission to change the way we think about work. It really doesn't have to be that thing we are forced to go and do to earn the money that allows us to follow our passion in our 'real life'. We've been led to believe that in this reality it's only pop stars and footballers that get to do what they are naturally brilliant at, that they absolutely love doing, and they get handsomely paid for - but that's RUBBISH!

Andrew Horder - Professional Mindset Coach, Masters in business (MBA), Business Owner, NLP Master Practitioner, Encourager of Potential!

We can all have it all - and I'm on a mission to show you how!

My story ...

There has to be more ...

I'm Andrew Horder, and like so many people, I reached my late thirties feeling "there has to be more to life than this!" - I was earning good money in a good job, driving around the country in my posh car, meeting generally nice people and selling them stuff, but I knew that wasn’t going to be enough for me for very much longer. So I decided that moving up the management ladder was the answer. I signed up for an MBA degree to learn all about how business works, and I worked my socks off for a few years – as well as working 40-60 hours a week, I was studying 10-20hrs in the evenings and weekends.  And I also changed jobs three times, each time getting more responsibility. And more pressure.

On the surface I had a successful career and an MBA, but inside I was still struggling. I was stuck in a job I hated, that was making me physically and mentally ill, where I had no alignment with what my bosses wanted me to do for them – and to clients! I felt that I had no purpose in life – I was just drifting along, dead inside, hoping that somehow it would all come right.

What changed?

Then I came across something that helped me uncover the one thing I had been doing all my life, whenever it’s all been going amazingly well - I learned my Core Process – “Encouraging Potential”.

Afterwards, I remember getting all excited and  saying to my mentor something like “Wow! If we could get everybody doing what they are brilliant at, and that they love to do, wouldn’t the world be such better place! Oh yes, that’s exactly what someone needs to do to get the world out of this mess we’re all in.”

And he looked at me and very gently asked:

“Why not you?”

That’s when I realised I needed to formally train as a coach, in Neuro-Linguistic Programming, as a Talent Dynamics consultant, and a Core Process facilitator. I started to apply to myself the fundamental principles that  I now include in all my coaching work - and now I’ve never been happier.

I get to spend my time working with exciting and committed individuals, who know they can make a real difference in the world. All they need is a bit of the pragmatic approach to business and work I picked up on my MBA, and someone to re-ignite their passion for what they do, so they no longer feel they have to hold back from stepping into their own magnificence!

Now I get to get up on a Monday morning ready to do what I do best – Encouraging Potential all over the place!

My core values

These are the things that are important to me, in my work and in my life. I've attempted to explain here how they relate to how I operate as a coach and as a person, to help you understand  what it might be like for you to work with me

Fairness

To create a world where more people can be happy, we need fewer circumstances where people are treated unequally.

Flow

Flow is the state of being where whatever you are doing is full of ease and grace - who wouldn't want more of that in their work?

Compassion

Allowing others to have failings and seek to be in allowance of that is the first step towards self-compassion  - and that's essential to any personal progress.

Health

In the depths of a career or work crisis it's all too easy to neglect your health, and that's a sure-fire way to hold back performance, achievement, and joy in your work .

Growth

In today's constantly changing world, standing still is not an option, if you're not growing, you're slowly dying. So it's essential to find ways to become more - to live up to your potential.

Contribution

If what you're doing isn't creating value in the world, you're not going to get the recognition and reward you're seeking. Keep your focus on what you can give, not what you can get.

The more astute reader will notice that Money, or Reward don't seem to appear in my core values. They probably should, but I'm in the fortunate position that unless successive governments make a ridiculous hash of things we should have enough reserves to see us into our dotage. Not everyone has that luxury, so getting YOU properly rewarded for your doing work you can really love, without charging you the earth, is a big part of my contribution to the world.
